To better celebrate Houston's diverse population, this program will work to forge connections across the city. Bridge Builders Houston is dedicated to the development of future leaders from across the City of Houston to prepare them to make lasting, meaningful contributions to the diverse communities in which they live.
BBH is rooted in the belief that young people can—and should—play a vital role in making Houston a better place to live, work and play.
We believe great leaders, regardless of age, must appreciate diversity, lean into courageous conversations, and build bridges across deep philosophical and physical divides. Despite Houston's diverse population, many Houstonians’ relationships and day-to-day interactions are still segregated— by race, socioeconomic level, or other factors.
With each passing year, BBH will work to break down those barriers and unify our community, starting with our youth.
Through CONNECT and COLLABORATE, our two levels of Bridge Builders programming in partnership with the Honors College at the University of Houston, youth in grades 11 & 12 learn to step outside their comfort zones and seek out diverse perspectives. But they also hone other critical real-world skills like communication, problem-solving, and decision-making as they explore effective citizenship and social responsibility. And BBH programs don’t stop at diversity appreciation and leadership development—they challenge youth to apply those skills to make meaningful and lasting impacts on their schools, neighborhoods, and city.
At BBH, we believe youth aren’t just “the leaders of tomorrow.” They’re powerful agents for positive change today.
Houston needs Bridge Builders and Bridge Builders need you.
